Blog #3: The Six Nations is here and the Blues are raising money for some very worthwhile causes…

The Six Nations is finally here!

The Directors at Genero attended the annual Cardiff Blues’ Six Nations Charity Lunch last Friday. The event is highly anticipated throughout the year, with the Blues always kicking-off the Six Nations memorably. Hosted in Genero’s hometown, the Heineken Marquee at the Cardiff Arms Park is the ideal location, situated right in the centre of the city. Each year we are honoured to be part of the event, with proceedings going to the Cardiff Blues Benevolent Trust, which continues to raise money for the #StayStrongForOws campaign.

The event is an all singing all dancing affair with plenty going on to keep guests entertained. A Q&A with coaches from the Blues, Scarlets, Dragons and the Ospreys is the highlight of the event, along with a lively auction hosted by former All Blacks and Blues Captain Xavier Rush.  Life long Cardiff Blues fan Gethin Jones was the fantastic host, keeping the guests entertained with his wit and looks throughout the day. The first-class food and drink was supplied by Spiros Caterers, which was all to welcome in the first game of 2019’s Six Nations tournament.

Genero Productions collaborated with the Blues to ensure the event looked the best it could. We set up the stage, provided furniture, controlled the sound and produced the audio-visual and lighting. We ensured our crew were on site to maintain the event, leaving no room for any last minute difficulties (despite the snowfall)! Genero are proud of our partner status and to be official sponsors of the Cardiff Blues. A big Shoutout to Josh Navidi, our sponsored player, for his excellent performance against France in the first test of the Six Nations!

Another fantastic way the Blues are raising money for local charities is through their upcoming golf trip to Palma, Spain. One of our aforementioned Directors, former WRU and Blues player Tom Shanklin, has been appointed as Chairman of the recently founded Cardiff Blues Former Players Association. Using his expertise as Director of Genero Experiences, Tom has organised the golf trip to Palma. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to compete in teams with present and former Blues players. It promises to be the best golf trip by par… it’ll certainly putt a smile on your face…

Taking place from 13th June to 16th June, the trip will be for a fantastic cause. All funds will be donated to the Cardiff Blues Community Foundation, which is an organisation aiming to ‘inspire, engage and improve’ opportunities in our local community through the power and values of sport (as stated on the Blues’ website). Schools and community centres are among the many community organisations which will benefit from the charity.
