We have been proud to work with Cardiff for more than a decade professionally but that intrinsic link goes much deeper with many of the team, including myself, lifelong supports. We are passionate about the club and hope to support Cardiff and the Arms Park for many years to come.” - Pete Leckie, Managing Director at Genero Group.

2023 Brings the Triumphant Return of In-Person Events

2023 Brings the Triumphant Return of In-Person Events

2022 saw the first full year of in-person events when the current PM announced in February that from the 24th there will be no further restrictions and testing for the COVID-19 virus. So now that we have returned to normality post pandemic, it presents the perfect opportunity to celebrate the return of the events industry as it adapted to survive in the face of a global pandemic.

So, let’s take a look at what’s changed since the start of the pandemic and why this is great news for our clients and event venue partners alike.

Pulling off a perfect picnic in Penarth

Beautiful weather and smiling faces shone bright as Picnic Penarth was held for its third year, this time at its new Esplanade location. The sell-out weekend saw 14,000 visitors being captivated by top entertainment, fantastic food and an electrifying carnival atmosphere – and Genero Group couldn’t be happier to have helped delivered it all.

Genero Group, whose UK headquarters are based in Penarth, was delighted to partner with Penarth Town Council back in April to help organise this much-loved community event on their home turf. In order to ensure fun was had by visitors of all ages, entertainment acts including Penarth Soul Club and John Lewis and His Trio were invited to the event, and younger guests were treated to Simon Sparkles, DJ Stirling and an excellent performance by Rubicon Dancers. To top it all off, visitors were treated to the unique view of the Volva Ocean Race departure, adding a summery touch to the energetic atmosphere.

“Seeing local families and visitors really enjoying the weekend made all our team’s hard work worthwhile,” said Cllr. Rhiannon Birch, leader of Penarth Town Council. “I’d like to thank our local community and businesses for their support in making this event a real Penarth showcase.”

“I’m so pleased that the Picnic was such a great success,” added Pete Leckie, MD of Genero Group. “Of course, my own family loved every minute of the weekend, too!”

This year’s Penarth Picnic was the first event to take place under the new Memorandum of Understanding between Penarth Town Council and Genero Group, and the organisers are looking forward to joining forces again to deliver the Penarth Festival and Downhill Derby on July 14 and 15.
